The Constitutional Court of the Republic of North Macedonia will convene this Wednesday to assess the constitutionality of the Law that enables the establishment of the "Safe City" monitoring system.
Constitutional Judge Ana Pavlovska Daneva, during a television appearance, announced that three initiatives on this issue have been submitted to this institution: an initiative from Arben Taravari's ASH, Ziadin Sela's ASH, and a student from the Faculty of Law.
According to Judge Daneva, all three initiatives have been merged into a single case, which has already been set as an agenda item for the next session.
An important innovation for this process is that the public will be able to follow the debates and decision-making in real time. Last week, the Constitutional Court decided to open its sessions to the public, thus increasing the transparency of this high legal institution.
The "Safe City" system has caused numerous public debates regarding the protection of personal data and the privacy of citizens, points that are expected to be the focus of constitutional review.
