Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni has spoken for the first time about his clash with Fede Valverde at the Valdebebas training center.
The Uruguayan midfielder ended up in hospital receiving stitches to his head after an alleged altercation with Tchouaméni, while both were fined €500 by the club for their indiscipline.
Valverde also spoke about the incident this week during his arrival at Uruguay's pre-World Cup training camp.
The 27-year-old did not go into details, having initially denied being hit by Tchouaméni, but described the incident as a "learning experience" to "grow and mature."
Tchouaméni has now also spoken out for the first time about the incident, clarifying that he did not hit Valverde.
"It's clear that things happened, you could see and hear them in the media. It was exaggerated because it was in the news and when you play for Real Madrid, that creates a big reaction. A lot of untrue things were said in the press. I read that there was a fight and that I had hit him... which is not true. I won't go into more detail," he was quoted as saying by Diario AS.
"The most important thing is that the club was aware of what happened. There are many things that happen in the dressing room that don't come out in the media. Life goes on. Fede and I have a common goal: to win trophies with Real Madrid. There are no problems. And if we face each other in the World Cup, we will be ready to win with our national teams. On a personal level, there is no problem between me and Valverde right now," he added.
Despite the large fines, "Los Blancos" were not so much bothered by the collision itself, but by the fact that the event was made public.
Former coach Álvaro Arbeloa stated that what "hurts the most" is the fact that someone leaked the story to the media.
Meanwhile, president Florentino Pérez took a similar stance, stressing that the person who revealed the incident would lose his job and that "players fight every year", suggesting that the leak of information was more serious than the fight itself./Express newspaper/
