Tamagotchi, the iconic toy of the '90s, has returned in a new version through a collaboration between Casetify and Bandai America.
The new collection includes phone cases, headphone holders, straps, lanyards and other tech accessories inspired by the nostalgic aesthetic of the digital pet. Part of the launch is an exclusive Tamagotchi device with a custom design by Casetify, priced at around £43.
The original Tamagotchi was launched in 1996 and quickly became a global phenomenon. The name comes from the Japanese word “tamago,” meaning egg, and the English word “watch.” The toy functioned as a digital pet that required constant care from the user.

Children had to feed it, clean it, give it medicine when it got sick, and track its hunger and happiness levels. Early versions didn't have a pause option, so many students were often distracted at school trying to keep their Tamagotchi alive. For this reason, some schools banned the toy.
However, Tamagotchi was also praised for its ability to foster a sense of responsibility and empathy in children. To date, over 100 million units have been sold worldwide.
The Tamagotchi x Casetify collection is expected to go on sale on May 29, with prices ranging from 14 to 95 pounds. /GazetaExpress/
