Lawyer Xhevdet Smakiqi, on the "Tempus" show, said that the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPK) is not announcing the competition for Chief State Prosecutor in order to show integrity.
Regarding the process of selecting the Chief State Prosecutor, lawyer Smakiqi said that when we have direct political intervention from a Prime Minister and Government that labels prosecutors, then at this stage the competition for Chief State Prosecutor should be postponed and not announced in order for this new Council to show integrity and independence so that there is no political influence.
Attorney Smakiqi emphasized that the rush to announce a competition implies direct interference in the work of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council.
According to Smakiqi, the previous Council's recommendation for Blerim Isufaj to the position of Chief State Prosecutor is still in force, saying that the new Council should once again review this recommendation to see if it should be repealed and what the reasons for the repeal are, due to President Vjosa Osmani's refusal to decree it.
"How can the KPK announce a competition when the recommendation of the former KPK is in force. The KPK should once again review the recommendation for Blerim Isufaj to see if it can revoke it and what are the reasons for revoking it," said Smakiqi.
