New details have come to light regarding the murder of former Miss Switzerland 2007 finalist Kristina Joksimovic, an event that has shocked public opinion in Switzerland.
According to Swiss media, her husband, 41-year-old Marc Rieben, is accused of murdering the 38-year-old after a bitter family conflict related to divorce proceedings, child custody and financial issues.
The incident is alleged to have taken place in February 2022, in Binningen, near Basel. According to preliminary investigations, during a physical altercation, the suspect allegedly grabbed the victim by the throat and then strangled her.
Authorities say that after the crime, the suspect attempted to cover up the crime by using sharp objects and household items to remove the body, as well as attempts to eliminate evidence using chemicals.
The forensic report has dismissed claims of self-defense, confirming that the cause of death was drowning. The prosecution describes the suspect's behavior after the incident as cold and unrepentant, while doubts have also been raised about his mental health.
