Kosovo Police has announced that a small animal smuggling network, sheep, in Ferizaj has been busted.
The police also said that by order of the acting prosecutor in Ferizaj, in cooperation with the relevant police units and the FVA inspector, a search was conducted at the property of suspect LK and two other locations, and that, during the police operation, a total of 108 sheep were found, most of them (100) without registration numbers and without any accompanying documentation on origin or veterinary control.
''The State Prosecutor has also been notified regarding the case, who has recommended that the case be initiated as a 'customs offense'. The case is being handed over to Kosovo Customs in Han i Elezit for further proceedings.'', the announcement states, among other things.

Border Police strikes small animal smuggling network (sheep) in Ferizaj, a serious risk to public health and food safety.
On 19.05.2026, after receiving information from the SP-Ferizaj, Southern Border Police, the competent police units carried out a coordinated operation in the village of Rakaj, Ferizaj, where illegal keeping and smuggling of animals was suspected.
By order of the acting prosecutor in Ferizaj, in cooperation with the relevant police units and the FVA inspector, a search was conducted at the property of suspect LK and two other locations.
During the police operation, a total of 108 sheep were found, most of them (100) without registration numbers and without any accompanying documentation on origin or veterinary control. In the other two locations checked, the FVA inspector did not find any legal violations.
The State Prosecutor has also been notified of the case, who has recommended that the case be initiated as a 'customs offense'. The case is being handed over to Kosovo Customs in Han i Elezit for further proceedings.
The Border Police remains committed to combating smuggling, cross-border crime and any activity that endangers the security, economy and health of citizens, while investigations regarding this case are continuing in coordination with the competent authorities.
