Serbia aims to influence Serb voters in Kosovo in the June 7 elections, inviting them to vote for the Serbian List – a party that has the support of official Belgrade. The Director of the Office for Kosovo in the Serbian Government has called for a vote for the Serbian List, saying that only its victory is a “guarantee for the survival of Serbs.”
The Head of the Office for Kosovo in the Government of Serbia, Petar Petkovic, has invited Serbs in Kosovo to vote for the Serbian List in the June 7 elections.
He made the appeal to Serb voters during a rally of an association from the Zubin Potok region, held in Kragujevac, while calling the June 7 elections important. According to him, only the victory of the Serbian List is "a guarantee for the survival of Serbs in Kosovo."
"You all know that other important elections are approaching, I understand that people are tired because we have many electoral processes and a major political crisis and instability in Pristina, but our task is to endure and fight and be united, united and determined as before. Therefore, this rally is an opportunity to invite everyone to go to the elections on June 7 and vote for the Serbian List, because the victory of the Serbian List in these elections is a guarantee for the survival of Serbs in Kosovo, a guarantee that we will continue to build our communities and invest in them," he said.
Petkovic emphasized that only the Serbian List has the support of the Government of Serbia and President Aleksandar Vučić.
This is not the first time that official Belgrade has interfered in Kosovo's elections. It has done this in previous elections as well.
The interference of Serbian state structures in the Kosovo elections was also noted in the EU's election observation report for 2025.
The report mentions the issue that makes Serbian voters more vulnerable – receiving payments from social and employment schemes from Serbia.
“However, the LS remained dominant within the Kosovo Serb community, receiving support from Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, and relying on Serbian and small Kosovo Serb media outlets for its campaign. In addition, pressure was reported on voters, dependent on Serbian social assistance and employment. Overall, Kosovo Serb-majority municipalities saw a relatively subdued campaign compared to other municipalities,” the EU election observation report for December 2025 states.
A total of four Serbian political entities will compete in the June 7 elections.
In addition to the Serbian List, the Party for Freedom, Justice and Survival, the Alliance of Kosovo, and the civic initiative Together We Win will also compete, which includes political entities such as SNP, SZS, and DS.
In the last two elections, the Serbian List has failed to win all 10 seats in the Assembly reserved for the Serbian community. /Koha
