Marcus Rashford is expected to leave Manchester United before the summer transfer window closes, but his destination remains unclear.
Coach Ruben Amorim and club executives have announced that Rashford is no longer part of the club's plans, despite having come through United's academy and playing over 400 games for the first team.
Last season, he spent the second half on loan at Aston Villa, where he was welcomed by the fans, but the club did not activate the option to buy him, mainly due to the high salary and the need to reduce the wage budget.
Rashford's preference for a move to Barcelona has been widely reported, but according to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, there is also interest from the Saudi league.
Journalist Fernando Polo writes:
"The Catalan club is not the only one looking for him. There are also powerful teams from Saudi Arabia who are after him. One of them has made him a very important offer, which according to sources close to the player reaches the figure of 40 million euros."
However, with next summer bringing the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the US, Mexico and Canada, a move to Arabia does not seem like the smartest choice for a player looking to return to the attention of England manager Thomas Tuchel.
Rashford is 27 years old and at 32 he will be less likely to be fit for another World Cup. Therefore, a move to a big European club like Barcelona could be the ideal move to revive his career and convince Tuchel to take him to England.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Rashford wants his transfer to Barcelona to be completed before the team departs for their pre-season tour, which starts in less than two weeks.
In addition to Barcelona and an unknown club from Saudi Arabia, Rashford has also been linked with Bayern Munich and Fenerbahçe since his return from Aston Villa.
After Barcelona failed to sign Nico Williams, it is believed that the path to Camp Nou is now open for Rashford. However, due to the Catalan club's financial constraints, a loan deal with an option to buy could be the most likely option for him.
