The danger of those looking at your screen from the side could soon become a thing of the past, as Samsung has introduced a new phone with a "Privacy Display," a screen that blurs when viewed from a side angle.
The newly released Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra keeps the screen crystal clear for the user, but makes it invisible to anyone who tries to look from the side.
Users can hide the screen completely or protect only specific information and apps. For example, Privacy Display automatically activates when you enter your PIN, password, or to hide important notifications.

The screen works with a special type of pixel that sends light only towards the user, blocking viewing from the side. Unlike conventional filters that stick onto the screen, Samsung's integrated solution covers the screen from all angles.
This means your private information remains hidden even when you change the screen from portrait to landscape. According to the company, using Privacy Display does not reduce brightness, resolution, or battery life.
Samsung says it's the first screen of its kind to combat the phenomenon of "shoulder surfing" - when thieves peek at a victim's phone to get PINs or bank passwords. Thieves use long-zoom lenses or simply follow someone in public to spy.
This feature, according to Samsung, has been five years in development and should prevent any attempts to spy on your personal data.
Annika Bizon, Vice President of Product & Marketing for Mobile Experience at Samsung UK & Ireland, told the Daily Mail:
“The S26 Ultra has the world's first privacy screen on a mobile phone, which protects information at the pixel level, limiting what others can see from side angles, while keeping your screen clear and usable.”
Users can choose from “Partial Screen Privacy” settings to limit viewing of notifications or specific apps, or “Maximum Privacy Protection” to hide the screen completely.
On social media, tech fans have celebrated the feature, calling it "spy movie technology" and praising Samsung for its commitment to privacy.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is part of the new flagship S26 line, which also includes the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+. The starting price is £1,279 for the S26 Ultra, £1,099 for the S26+ and £879 for the standard S26. All models can be pre-ordered from February 25 and go on sale on March 11. /GazetaExpress/
