Today, the family, citizens and authorities of Pristina accompanied with respect and pain, to their final resting place, the distinguished son of Kosovo and the Albanian nation, Dr. Bujar Bukoshin, the former first Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo.
Dr. Bujar Bukoshi was a prominent personality, an ardent patriot, a well-educated, dedicated and brave statesman, one of the founders, alongside President Rugova, of the institutions of the parallel state of the Albanians of occupied Kosovo. He was elected as the first Prime Minister of the government in exile of the Republic of Kosovo. As the closest and most intimate associate of President Rugova, Bujar Bukoshi made a major contribution to the national cause. Alongside President Rugova, he played a key role in organizing the parallel power of the oppressed Albanians in Kosovo, a power that finally separated them from the state of the invaders.
Bujar Bukoshi, a patriotic intellectual and skilled diplomat, represented Kosovo, its citizens and their cause with special dignity in all international institutions and chancelleries of free countries. He established Information Centers of the Republic of Kosovo worldwide, which were embassies informing the international community in real time about all the barbarities, apartheid, segregation and Serbian genocide against Albanians in Kosovo.
Together with President Rugova, they presented and defended the project of an independent Kosovo as the only and just solution for the Albanians of Kosovo. The government led by him and the Ministry of Defense of this government strongly supported the creation of the Kosovo Liberation Army from the very beginning.
Under the leadership of President Rugova and the direct care of former Prime Minister Bukoshi and his government, freedom fighters, including the legendary commander Adem Jashari, who would become the founders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, came to Albania for training, combat preparation, and armament.
The Bukoshi government and its Ministry of Defense organized the armed forces of the Kosovo government during the war, which fought heroically alongside the KLA units to liberate Kosovo from the brutal Serbian invaders.
I was fortunate to collaborate closely with Dr. Bujar Bukoshi for many years.
On this occasion, I express my deepest condolences and those of the Democratic Party to the people of Kosovo, the family, Mrs. Bukoshi and their children, and the country's authorities.
May it be easy for you, O unforgettable friend, the soil of the free land of Kosovo!
Farewell Bujar Bukoshi!
