Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota's former teammate at Wolves and Porto, has arrived in Portugal to attend the funeral of his late friend. He was one of the pallbearers during the emotional ceremony held in Gondomar on Saturday.

Neves flew from the US on a private jet immediately after the end of the match he took part in last night's Club World Cup. He was part of the Al Hilal squad that faced Manchester City in this prestigious competition. Despite his commitments at the highest level of football, Neves did not hesitate to travel to his homeland to say goodbye to his friend and former teammate.

Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota shared the pitch first at FC Porto B and then in the Porto first team. Later, they reunited at Wolverhampton Wanderers in England, where they formed a brilliant partnership from 2017 to 2020. In those years, both contributed to Wolves' promotion to the Premier League and their consolidation in the elite of English football.

During their time at Wolves, Jota and Neves played together in over 100 official matches, including the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League, sharing the pitch and successes with a strong professional and personal bond.

Neve's participation in Jota's funeral confirms the deep bond that existed between them and shows the great respect that Jota enjoyed among his teammates and friends.

The funeral ceremony in Gondomar gathered thousands of people, including well-known names in world football, in an atmosphere filled with pain, but also with respect for the life and career of a footballer who left an indelible mark on the hearts of many people.
