NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, during his visit to North Macedonia, said that the KFOR mission in Kosovo will remain "strong" and "capable of its purpose."
Rutte made these statements after several reports that the US has lobbied in recent months to reduce NATO's peacekeeping operation in Kosovo.
"North Macedonia has long supported our KFOR peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, and for that I thank you. KFOR continues to play a fundamental role in supporting sustainable security, for the benefit of all people living in Kosovo. We will continue to ensure that KFOR remains strong and capable of its purpose," Rutte said.
Otherwise, regarding these reports, the Pentagon had said that there are currently no changes in the stationing of the force.
At the joint press conference with the President of North Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, in Skopje, Rutte also said that NATO is committed "to defending every inch of allied territory wherever the challenge comes."
