In Albania, the number of foreigners with residence permits has reached 22,000, with around 12,000 of them employed mainly in sectors such as tourism and construction. Foreigners are filling gaps in the labor market, contributing to the country's economy.
According to the Institute of Statistics report, 54% of foreigners came for employment, while 24% for family reunification. The tourism sector, for example, has high demands for workers, and for this reason, Albania has attracted workers from countries such as India, Turkey and Italy.
Meanwhile, applications for residence permits have increased significantly, especially those from India, where the number of applications has increased 38 times since 2020. Currently, there are 5,415 job openings in Albania, and businesses are filling these positions with foreign workers to cope with the shortage of local staff.
