Toni Kroos seems to be very close to returning to Real Madrid.
According to a report from Spanish newspaper AS, the 2014 World Cup winner is expected to be closely involved in the club's sporting structure starting this summer.
However, it is still unclear what the 36-year-old's exact role will be.
Kroos will retire in 2024 after 10 years with Los Blancos. During his time at Real Madrid, he won five Champions Leagues and four La Liga titles.
However, in the last two years, Madrid have failed to live up to their high expectations. This season, the club parted ways with coach Xabi Alonso early and now risk ending the season without a trophy.
Real Madrid has already been eliminated from the cup, while with seven matches remaining in the championship, they are nine points behind the defending champion, FC Barcelona.
