Real Madrid unveiled their latest signing, Álvaro Carreras, on Tuesday afternoon, their third of the summer and the third of four transfers planned so far. However, the question of whether Los Blancos should continue their transfer activity is generating debate – not only in the media, but also between coach Xabi Alonso and the club's board.

Alonso has publicly hinted that he wants another move in the transfer market, especially in midfield. Sources close to the club point out that both the coach and his staff have been looking for reinforcements in the middle of the field, especially after the departures of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, which have created a void in the midfield.

According to Cadena SER, the club's directors are not convinced by the current options on the market. President Florentino Perez does not want to spend 100 million euros or more on a player who he does not consider worth such an investment. The only name that convinces them is Rodri Hernandez from Manchester City, but he is not for sale at the moment and could be available next summer if he does not renew with the English champions.

For this reason, Real Madrid have suspended their search for a new midfielder. According to Diario AS, names such as Enzo Fernandez, Alexis Mac Allister and Nicolo Barella have been considered, but they would require a large outlay. The board believes that there are sufficient resources in the squad and that Alonso should use Arda Güler in that role, which could also affect the future of Dani Ceballos.

One development to watch is whether Real Madrid will sell Rodrygo Goes. The Brazilian is expected to bring a large sum into the club's coffers, and Alonso could argue that this would be enough to fund a midfield reinforcement.

However, with €63m still to be paid for Argentine talent Franco Mastantuono, and a total spend of €173m this summer, the club's leaders may consider they have done enough in this transfer window./Express newspaper/
