Real Madrid fans are furious after hearing a comment from Barcelona's official commentator during the 7-3 win over FC Seoul, and are now demanding a public apology from the Catalan club.
In Thursday's friendly in South Korea, Barcelona triumphed with a convincing scoreline, with Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres scoring twice each, while Robert Lewandowski, Andreas Christensen and Gavi added a goal each. Barça's new signing Marcus Rashford registered his first assist for the Blaugrana, playing alongside his former Manchester United teammate Jesse Lingard.
The match was broadcast for free on Barcelona's official YouTube channel, following problems with the broadcast of the match against Vissel Kobe.
But the club's commentator attracted a lot of negative attention with a sarcastic comment about Luka Modrić, who recently left Real Madrid after a glorious career, to join AC Milan on a one-year contract.
In the commentary, referring to a misplaced pass by Modrić that led to the winning goal scored by Jules Koundé in the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid, the commentator said:
"For our part, we haven't paid tribute to Luka Modrić yet. His last great service was that pass to Kounde in the Copa del Rey final."
This irony was poorly received by Real Madrid fans, who considered the comment "classless and unethical", especially compared to the way Real Madrid had honored Andres Iniesta on the official website when he retired from football.
Real Madrid had described Iniesta as a player who "contributed with his football and values to the greatness of this sport" and wished him and his family all the best.
On social media, the reactions were harsh:
A user on X wrote:
“When Iniesta retired, Real Madrid released an official statement praising his career. Today, Barcelona official on TV: 'From here, we haven't paid homage to Modrić yet. His last service was the pass for Koundën in the final.' A club without class.”

Another said:
"Real Madrid, Barcelona... I will never regret choosing Real."
Another added:
"You can't buy class."
And a fourth one concluded:
"Class is not associated with that club. They were, are and will always remain the shadow of Real Madrid."
Barcelona are expected to play again on Monday against Daegu FC, in the final friendly of the Asian tour, before hosting Cesc Fabregas' Como on August 10 in the traditional Joan Gamper Trophy. /GazetaExpress/
