Pope Leo XIV received this Thursday the Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania, Edi Rama.
The meeting between the Pope and Edi Rama took place at the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican. Talks were then held at the Vatican Secretariat of State, where among the topics were the situation in the Balkans and the path towards Albania's full integration into the European Union.
"In the cordial talks - says a statement from the Holy See Press Office - the existing good relationship between the Holy See and the Republic of Albania was highlighted and topics of common interest related to relations between the ecclesiastical and civil communities were addressed."
Among the topics at the center of the talks - the announcement continues - were key regional issues, "including the situation in the Western Balkan countries and Albania's journey towards full integration into the European Union."
