Përparim Rama, Mayor of Pristina, on the 18th anniversary of Kosovo's Independence, said that February 17 is a summary of sacrifices, endurance and faith in the sanctity of freedom.
Rama also said that the country's freedom bears names, faces and living history, which was built on the sacrifice of political prisoners, strengthened through Rugova's peaceful vision, and sealed with the blood of the KLA's war.
"February 17 is a dividing line between eras, it is a summary of sacrifice, resistance and our collective belief in the sanctity of freedom. And this freedom bears names, bears faces, bears living stories. It was built on the sacrifice of political prisoners who kept the spirit of resistance alive in the most difficult years. It was strengthened through the peaceful and state-building vision of Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, it was sealed with the blood of the liberation war of the Kosovo Liberation Army, and it was crowned with the international partnership that transformed our right into a state reality," he said, according to Gazeta Express.
Rama also added that the liberation war remains the foundation on which the state of Kosovo stands.
"The liberation war remains the foundation on which our state stands. Justice remains the bridge that connects the past with the future. Honor to our liberators, justice for our history," he concluded.
