The Union of Radio Television Workers of Kosovo (SPERTK) directly calls on the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to immediately take the necessary steps to allocate financial resources for RTK, in accordance with the budget approved by law by the Assembly of Kosovo.

"There are complete legal solutions to ensure the functioning of the public broadcaster and to prevent the institutional collapse of RTK, which is already in an alarming financial state. Any additional delay jeopardizes not only RTK's constitutional mission, but also the possibility that hundreds of workers will be left without salaries, exposing them and their families to serious social insecurities," the statement said.

According to SPERTK, RTK has not been and is not a burden on the state – it is an irreplaceable state asset that contributes to the fair information of citizens, the representation of all communities and the strengthening of democracy in the country. Failure to fulfill financial obligations to RTK constitutes a direct violation of the law and jeopardizes the very functioning of the only public broadcaster in Kosovo.

"SPERTK calls on all state institutions to address our legitimate and legally based demands. We demand that RTK be treated with legality, responsibility and meritocracy - as befits an institution that serves the public interest and citizens of all communities in the Republic of Kosovo. If financial resources are not allocated to RTK by August 5, the Union will launch the announced protests. At the same time, SPERTK will demand that RTK's coverage of any political activity be suspended and will take legal steps through lawsuits in court against all those responsible for the created situation. SPERTK remains committed to protecting the rights of workers and the mission of the public broadcaster," the statement of the Union of Radio Television Workers of Kosovo (SPERTK) states.
