Russian President Vladimir Putin had to rush out of a public event to take a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday. During his speech at the “Strong Ideas for a New Era” forum in Moscow, Putin interrupted his speech and apologized to the audience, saying it was “strange” to keep his American counterpart waiting because “he might be offended.”
"Please, don't be angry. I understand that we could talk more, but it's so awkward to make him (Trump) wait, he might get offended," the Russian President said.
The talks between the two leaders, which were their sixth since Trump returned to the White House and the fourth in just six weeks, however, failed to produce any progress, as Moscow remained determined not to back down from its original goals in Ukraine.
During the phone call, the two leaders discussed the conflict in Ukraine, tensions in the Middle East, the situation in Iran, and US-Russia relations. /BalkanWeb/
