The Chargé d'Affaires at the US Embassy in Pristina refers to the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue facilitated by the European Union when speaking in an interview with Gazeta Express regarding the closure of parallel Serbian institutions and "statements on unilateral actions to shift education and healthcare to the Kosovo system."
Anu Prattipati said that such actions should be coordinated through channels such as dialogue.
“However, the way in which this is done is of utmost importance. Any plan to change the status of parallel institutions must be fully coordinated and discussed in advance with elected leaders and members of the Kosovo Serb community, and coordinated through established channels such as the EU-facilitated Dialogue, with a clear timeline and plan in place. There is no other way to do this responsibly,” she said.
The American diplomat said that the US wants to strengthen ties with countries in the region, especially in the economic sphere. For this, she said, peace and stability are needed. Actions that "increase tensions in the region", she said, "prevent the United States from working productively with Kosovo".
