Police announce that they have found weapons and ammunition in three locations in the north: No arrests made

Kosovo police said they have found weapons, ammunition, hand grenades and other illegal devices in three cases in the north of the country.

Police said that today they received information that "there may be weapons, ammunition and other illegal means in three locations."

"CASE I At around 01:20, police units conducted a search of an uninhabited house in the village of Jagnjenic, Zubin Potok, where they found and seized: - 95 cartridges of various calibers; - 1 emblem and several shoulder straps of the Serbian Police", the Police announced.

"CASE II At around 09:20, police units during a search of a barn of an abandoned (uninhabited) house in the village of Žitkovc, Municipality of Zvečan, found and seized: – 1 AK-47 weapon; – 1 M-57 hand grenade, Yugoslav production; – 3 empty AK-47 magazines; – 85 7.9 mm caliber cartridges; – 2 military uniforms with Serbian emblems; – 60 AK-47 cartridges," the announcement further states.

In the third case, the Police said they conducted a search of an uninhabited house in the village of Varage, Zubin Potok.

"As a result, they found and seized: - 1 hand grenade; - 50 7.62 mm caliber cartridges. In case II and III, explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) units also arrived at the scene, which removed the explosive devices in a controlled manner," the announcement states.

The police said that "all police actions were undertaken in full coordination with the State Prosecutor, who has instructed the initiation of cases for the criminal offense: "Unauthorized ownership, control or possession of weapons"".

"Regarding these cases, no persons have been arrested. Kosovo Police thanks citizens for their cooperation and invites them to continue sharing information that helps the police in maintaining public order and safety. Any information can be reported to the number 192."
