The Mayor of Pristina, Përparim Rama, has reacted again to Albin Kurti, who said that he does not provide a budget for mayors from other parties.
Rama said that Kurti's statement is a scandal.
"The statement 'I don't give the budget for...' is scandalous. Which budget, Albin? Whose budget are you 'not giving'? Of the people who maintain this state with taxes, work and patience, or of the party that you have turned into private property?" Rama said.
"Albin Kurti finally said out loud what I have been warning about for two years: 'There is no money, no support, no development for municipalities that are not with us,'" he said.
According to Rama, the state budget is not a reward.
"The state budget is neither a reward nor a punishment, it is a constitutional obligation! It is not distributed according to party loyalty. In a democracy, whoever uses public money to punish opponents is an autocrat hiding behind the words "populist". This is no longer politics, it is an institutional danger!", wrote the head of the capital.
Rama said that the former prime minister is speaking as an owner.
"When the former prime minister speaks as an owner, the citizen loses the status of a sovereign. Where the citizen loses, the cultivation of a dangerous autocracy begins, which is fed by servility, fear and profit. Albin Kurti, power is not a mirror to admire. It is an exam that you have failed with arrogance. Those who are close to you, the servile and ignorant who feed your ego every day, may have created the impression that you are a superior figure, irreplaceable, above the law and the constitution. But you are not", said Rama.
"Kosovo is a democratic state. You and those close to you should remember this, so that instead of correcting you for such scandalous statements, they applaud you with servility!", he emphasized.
