The Basic Prosecution Office of Peja has stated that it will interview over 200 commissioners on suspicion of falsifying the December 28 election results.
Yesterday, around 30 people were interviewed regarding suspicions of vote manipulation in Deçan and Junik, while the interviewing of others has been announced for today. The interview will then continue with the chairmen.
The spokesperson for this prosecution, Shkodran Nikçi, has stated that everyone is being interviewed as suspects.
"So far, about 30 people have been interviewed, mainly from the municipalities of Deçan and Junik who were commissioners, as suspected persons, while other commissioners from these two municipalities will be processed for the next day, to be followed by the interview of the chairmen. We have territorial jurisdiction in five municipalities and in all of these we have collected evidence that is suspected of vote manipulation and we are undertaking investigative actions. Initially, the commissioners are interviewed as suspected persons, there are somewhere over 200 commissioners who will be interviewed with the authorization of the state prosecutor by the investigators of the regional investigations of the police directorate in Peja", he stated.
He stated that material evidence is also being collected, and after interviewing the commissioners and chairmen, legal measures foreseen by the Criminal Procedure Code will be taken.
Asked whether the municipality of Peja will also be included, the spokesperson said that the Prosecutor's Office in Peja is undertaking investigative actions, adding that the most voluminous work will be in this municipality.
Regarding the candidates for MPs, Nikçi said that "any evidence that leads us to persons who have criminal responsibility, legal measures will be taken."
Otherwise, so far, hundreds of people have been arrested on these suspicions in actions across the country's regions.
The discrepancy in votes was identified after the recount process, where there were candidates who came out with a difference of about 7 thousand votes.
