The Kosovo Liberation Army War Veterans Organization has expressed its deep dissatisfaction with the decision of the Court of Appeals of the Special Court in The Hague to reduce the prison sentence for former KLA commander Pjetër Shala to 5 years.
OVL-UCK says that "although the sentence has been reduced, we have waited with full conviction for an acquittal, because we believe in the innocence of our comrades-in-arms, and in our just struggle for liberation."
"This verdict, instead of ending the injustice, only deepens our conviction that this court has a political character and does not treat justice on an equal and impartial basis," the reaction states.
OVL-UÇ says that "the KLA does not need to be protected from the truth", that "historical truth is on our side" and that "no one will trample on our comrades with politically motivated processes".
"Freedom is not judged, it is respected!", it says at the end of the reaction.
