The application period for voter registration outside Kosovo is ongoing, which began on May 6 and will end on May 17, 2026.

Based on the data, from the beginning of this process until now, 28,654 registration requests have been received through the electronic platform http://diapsora.kqz-ks.org, of which 15,227 have been approved, while another 1,681 have been rejected and 11,734 are awaiting review.

This was announced to Gazeta Express by the spokesperson of the Central Election Commission, Valmir Elezi.

The latter also added that, out of 15,227 approved applications, 3,809 Kosovo citizens have registered to vote physically at diplomatic missions, 405 have registered to send the ballot package to the CEC mailbox in Kosovo and 11,013 have registered to send the ballot package to the mailbox outside Kosovo.

"Before the start of the period for the registration of voters outside Kosovo, the CEC has approved the list of Voting Centers in diplomatic missions and has set the maximum number of voters who can register for physical voting on June 6. According to the CEC decision, the voting process is planned to be organized in 48 diplomatic missions with a total of 70 polling stations, of which 33 embassies and 15 consulates. Meanwhile, the maximum number of voters who can register to vote in these Voting Centers is 66,450," Elezi announced.

The latter, further, has also announced that the limitation on the maximum number of voters who can register only applies to voting at diplomatic missions, while the number of voters who can register to vote by mail is unlimited.

"In the event that the maximum number of voters at the diplomatic mission is reached, according to the principle of the time of application, the applicant will be instructed to register for other methods of voting by mail," Elezi added.

Furthermore, the CEC spokesperson also said that, after last year's elections, the CEC has regulated various issues related to voting outside Kosovo.

"The CEC has set a minimum number of 50 registered voters as a criterion for organizing voting at a given diplomatic mission. If the number of voters registered to vote at a diplomatic mission is below 50, physical voting at that diplomatic mission will not be organized and registered voters will automatically be transferred to the status of voters by mail and will be notified by the CEC. Meanwhile, for citizens who register to vote by mail, the CEC, as it did in the last local and parliamentary elections, will send them a package with ballots by mail," concluded Elezi for The Express newspaper.
