President Vjosa Osmani, who has been the target of a lynch campaign after signing a decree to dissolve the Parliament after the legislative institution failed to elect a new President, according to the constitutional deadline, and this irritated Prime Minister Albin Kurti and his party, the Vetëvendosje Movement.
She said that threats, such as shooting, in a campaign of intimidation for which the Special Prosecution initiated a criminal case yesterday have also led to murder.
"Now to equate myself with Vučić, this, I'm saying, is dangerous, because it has also resulted in public calls for shooting today. As you know, such lynching language in the post-war years in Kosovo has resulted in the worst," Osmani said yesterday in an interview on Syri TV.
She said that "of course these conspiracies, these slanders, these attacks will not deter me at any moment."
Osmani spoke of a conspiracy against her, which he said "time will tell."
"When their most powerful ally is treated like this, count the others... It is regrettable because each of us at this moment should be defending the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, not calling for the president's firing, based on pure lies."
Osmani said that "freedom is not complete if such lynchings are used and calls for political violence are made."
At this point, she mentioned that the institution of the President "was built by Ibrahim Rugova."
"So, differences of opinion should be normal in a democracy. I say it again, this institution was built by President Ibrahim Rugova as a strong institution, as an institution that protects democracy, as an institution that protects the Constitution and as an institution that protects alliances, and in particular the sacred alliance with the United States of America. I have done this and as such I will leave it on April 4," she said.
Asked if she could return to the Democratic League of Kosovo after her mandate ends, Osmani said: "I will see what is in the greatest interest of the Republic of Kosovo at this moment."
