President Vjosa Osmani said she has issued a decree to dissolve the Parliament.
"Last night, the representatives decided to take the country to elections. It was completely avoidable. In accordance with the Constitution, I have issued a decree to dissolve the Assembly."
The process failed in the Assembly due to a lack of quorum. The candidates for president were Glauk Konjufca and Fatmire Kollçaku-Mullhaxha, both proposed by the ruling party, the Vetëvendosje Movement.
After the failure of the process, the Speaker of the Parliament, Albulena Haxhiu, announced that she has requested the Constitutional Court to temporarily suspend the constitutional deadlines regarding the election of the new president of Kosovo.
Osmani said that "no request for a temporary measure in the Constitutional Court automatically suspends the constitutional deadline. Only a court decision could do such a thing. And a decision does not exist at this moment. The language of the Constitution is mandatory." /Express/
