Vjosa Osmani, the country's former president, has addressed the diaspora with a video message, urging them to register to vote in the June 7 snap parliamentary elections.
Osmani, in her address, said that, during her presidency, the best part of her engagement has been meetings with the diaspora.
"You have proven it in the past, and you are proving it today, you never left Kosovo alone. Even now, the homeland needs you, for your word, for your dedication, for your participation. On June 7, we want you together again. Come to Kosovo, or register to vote. During the five years that I was in the Presidency, the most beautiful part of my commitment has been precisely the meetings with you, the receptions for you, the discussions with you, the joint celebrations of our common achievements and sharing the pain in difficult moments as a family that no one can share because you never turned your back on Kosovo. You kept it alive in the most difficult moments, you rebuilt it when it was in ruins and you gave hope when it was needed most. Even now, we will do it together," she declared.
The former president has also stated that the closer the diaspora is, the stronger Kosovo will be.
"As I said when I decided that December 28th would be the date of the last elections, the closer we have the diaspora in every decision, the stronger Kosovo will be because we are proud of you. We share Kosovo no matter where we live. Register, vote, influence. I love you very much," she said.
