A year later, and the pain is still alive. A year since the tragic fire at the Pulse discotheque in Kocani – a tragedy that took 63 young lives and left an indelible void in their families, friends and the entire country.
A city that was once filled with youth and music, in an instant became a symbol of sadness and remembrance. Today, Kocani stood in silence – with candles, tears and memories for those who left too soon. As a sign of respect and remembrance, families, friends and citizens will gather to pay homage to the victims of the tragic fire.
With a minute of silence, at exactly 2:32 in the morning, the moment that changed Kocani forever, homage was paid to those who tragically died in the fire. In front of the “Pulse” discotheque, hearts with the names of the people who lost their lives were placed, under the motto “The Light That Remains”.
The space was illuminated with spotlights and decorated with flowers and hearts engraved with the names of the young people who lost their lives in the fire or from the consequences of the fire. In addition to numerous families and friends, the gathering was also attended by representatives of the civil movement “Who’s Next?” from Skopje.
In Revolution Park, 63 white chairs, 63 lives, a symbolic mural – a visual monument to unfinished dreams – a wall of remembrance. Today at 10:00 there will be a prayer for the deceased.
