The last week of March, more precisely in the week of March 29, at two o'clock after midnight, the clocks will move forward one hour, to three o'clock. At that very moment, the daylight saving time begins. This means that darkness will come later.

The main idea behind introducing daylight saving time is to use daylight more efficiently. Winter time represents real, astronomical time, while summer time “takes” an hour in the morning and adds it in the evening, in order to lengthen daylight and make darkness come later.

However, for years now, scientific circles have been debating whether the clock movement will continue. The main question is: Will this system be abolished?

Why is the idea of eliminating the clock movement being considered?

The main reason is the scientifically proven negative impact on human health. Disruption of biorhythms can cause insomnia, constant fatigue, depression, exhaustion, changes in heart rate, and even digestive problems. The body can sometimes need up to two weeks to fully adapt to the new rhythm.

In addition to the health effects, the time change also affects the increase in road accidents, especially during the fall months when children go to school in the dark.

Although the European Commission in 2019 supported the initiative to abolish seasonal clock changes, due to the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020, the final decision was postponed.
