One day before election day in our country, Kosovo citizens living in 18 different countries around the world will be able to vote at diplomatic missions located in these countries.

This is the third time that Kosovo will organize physical voting in a large number of countries where the diaspora is mainly concentrated. The spokesperson for the Central Election Commission, Valmir Elezi, has indicated that on June 6, voting centers will open in 30 diplomatic missions of the state of Kosovo to enable the voting of more than 27,724 Kosovo citizens, who have registered and have selected this voting method.

"On June 6, the voting process for the Kosovo Assembly elections will take place in 17 embassies and 13 consulates spread across 18 different countries around the world. According to local time, voting will first begin at the embassy in Ankara and the Kosovo consulate in Istanbul, to continue with the opening of other centers in diplomatic missions located in European countries. Finally, voting will close in the USA and Canada, where embassies in Washington and Ottawa and consulates in New York and Toronto will open for voting," said Elezi.

Elezi also explained the changes that have accompanied the process of determining the diplomatic missions in which physical voting will take place. Initially, the CEC had planned for voting to be organized in 48 diplomatic missions, but this number was reduced to 30 because in 18 of them the number of registered voters was below 50. "According to the Electoral Regulation on Registration and Voting Outside Kosovo, if the number of voters registered to vote in a diplomatic mission is below 50, physical voting in that diplomatic mission is not organized and registered voters will automatically switch to the status of voters by mail and will be notified by the CEC. In general, the number of registered voters in these 18 diplomatic missions in which there will be no physical voting is less than 100. All these voters will be able to vote by mail, a process that began on May 21 and will end on June 6," Elezi explained.

The voting process on June 6, 2026 will take place in the following diplomatic missions: 1. Germany (Berlin – embassy; Frankfurt – consulate; Hamburg – consulate; Munich – consulate; Stuttgart – consulate; Düsseldorf – consulate); 2. Switzerland (Bern – embassy; Geneva – consulate; Zurich – consulate); 3. United Kingdom (London – embassy); 4. France (Paris – embassy; Strasbourg – consulate); 5. Belgium (Brussels – embassy); 6. United States of America (Washington – embassy; New York – consulate); 7. Norway (Oslo – embassy); 8. Austria (Vienna – embassy); 9. Canada (Ottawa – embassy; Toronto – consulate); 10. Sweden (Stockholm – embassy); 11. Slovenia (Ljubljana – embassy); 12. Denmark (Copenhagen – consulate); 13. Italy (Rome – embassy; Milan – consulate); 14. Turkey (Ankara – embassy; Istanbul – consulate); 15. Croatia (Zagreb – embassy); 16. Netherlands (The Hague – embassy); 17. Czech Republic (Prague – embassy) and 18. Hungary (Budapest – embassy).

According to the Law on General Elections, the process of voting abroad takes place before election day in Kosovo and is divided into two main parts: voting by mail, which began on May 21 and will end on June 6. The number of citizens registered for this type of voting is around 105 thousand. Meanwhile, physical voting at diplomatic missions is organized one day before election day in Kosovo, on June 6. /KP/
