Spain star and Euro 2024 champion Nico Williams has signed a new long-term contract with Athletic Bilbao that will keep him at San Mamés until June 30, 2035.
Through an official announcement and a special video on social media, Athletic Bilbao confirmed that it has reached an agreement to renew the contract with one of the most talented footballers of the new generation. His release clause has been increased by over 50% compared to the previous agreement.
"When making decisions, the most important thing is to listen to your heart. I'm where I want to be, with my people. This is my home. Aupa Athletic!", Williams himself said in the club's promotional video.
Nico Williams was close to a move to Barcelona, but ultimately remained in Bilbao.
