Despite ERO's call to postpone KEK's planned interventions for the renovation of the units, the Kosovo Energy Corporation has no intention of postponing the works.
KEK spokesman, Skënder Bucolli, said that if the works are postponed, then the long-term operation of production capacities would be compromised and according to him, it is wrong for such a thing to happen.
"Their eventual postponement or non-implementation would seriously jeopardize the long-term operational security of production capacities, therefore it is wrong for planning to focus only on the needs or conveniences of the current moment. KEK's approach is to look beyond the short term, by investing in sustainability, technical safety and stability of the energy system," Bucolli told RTV 21.
According to media reports, ERO had asked KEK to postpone interventions in the blocks at a time when electricity consumption continues to remain high.
