For those looking for a boost during their morning run, Nike has brought the solution: battery-powered shoes.

Called Project Amplify, these prototypes are described as “the world’s first power shoe system for running and walking.” According to Nike, the shoes function like a “second pair of calf muscles,” amplifying the natural movements of your feet and ankles to propel you forward, whether across the room or up a hill.

On Instagram, users expressed their astonishment. One wrote that “we are one step closer to the cyber age,” while another said: “This looks like an April Fool’s joke.” Another user commented: “People are getting so lazy it’s unbelievable.”

However, some users liked the invention, saying:

“Seniors or those with disabilities who are active will love this!”

"It will make you go to the office even when you don't feel like it!"

How it works?

Created in partnership with robotics startup, Dephy, Project Amplify consists of:

A "cuff" (like a bracelet) around the calf muscle with rechargeable batteries.

A shoe with an integrated motor and carbon plates, lightweight yet powerful.

The shoes amplify every step: they provide a boost during takeoff and gently cushion the foot when it lands. Early tests show an improvement of about 20%, which means a 10-minute walk can be done in 8 minutes. Nike compared them to electric bikes, making distances easier and faster.

According to the company, the system is not designed for professional runners looking for extra seconds, but for everyday athletes who want to move faster and farther with less effort.

Currently, over 400 athletes have taken over 2.4 million steps, about 12,000 laps of a 200-meter track, with Project Amplify shoes.

Nike plans to bring the system to mainstream consumers in 2028, describing it as a "first generation" that can be improved based on user feedback.

Kawasaki introduces hydrogen-powered robotic horse that can walk on any terrain

If you thought robotic dogs were the coolest thing, think again. Kawasaki Heavy Industries has unveiled a hydrogen-powered robotic horse called CORLEO.

This two-seater has four robotic legs and can walk on almost any terrain. To steer, you just need to move your body, while the car's intelligent system chooses the best path.

The company describes it as a "revolutionary off-road personal vehicle," replacing traditional wheels with robotic biological propulsion. /GazetaExpress/
