YouTuber John Bringus found an unusual Xbox joystick prototype, which he tested to find out what it can do.
John Bringus is best known for his YouTube channel, Bringus Studios, where he takes great pleasure in trying to play video games on unusual hardware.
A fan of his channel sent him a package containing an unusual and mysterious Xbox joystick. Further examination revealed a host of contradictions.
Bringus then tried to test on different devices. It didn't work on an Android phone, but surprisingly, it didn't work on an Xbox 360 either. Then Bringus ran it on a computer and saw something remarkable.
On a Windows computer, the device appears as “DC1 Controller, Copyright Microsoft 2012”. Up until this point, Bringus believed the joystick was an Xbox 360 prototype, but the copyright date suggests it was actually an Xbox One prototype.
The full teardown further confirmed this, as it was equipped with haptic trigger motors, which Xbox 360 controllers never had.
