For millions of users around the world, Netflix has been the go-to streaming service. But as of today, if you usually watch it on your PlayStation 3, there's some bad news.
Netflix has announced that its service will no longer work on this Sony console. Affected users should have received a notification on their device:
“Unfortunately, Netflix will no longer be available on this device after March 2, 2026. Visit netflix.com/compatible-devices to see the list of supported devices.”
The news has caused disappointment on social media, with some users calling it the “end of an era.” One wrote: “PS3 kept streaming and gaming before they were trendy, respect to the OG.” Another added: “Netflix survived three console generations and said ‘I’m tired, boss.’”

The PlayStation 3 launched in November 2006 and sold over 87 million units throughout its lifespan. Many users on Reddit expressed their disappointment:
"Netflix on PS3 was the only way I could watch Netflix with my dad, even though we live in different countries."
“Without ads and without location services, the PS3 was the perfect way to watch Netflix.”
Even smart TVs older than 10 years will lose support for Netflix, along with some set-top boxes, including the BT TV Box (Z4) and BT TV Recordable Box (G4).
If you're still using a PlayStation 3 or an old smart TV, there's no need to panic. Netflix can also be watched on other devices:
"You can watch Netflix on any internet-connected smart TV, phone, tablet, streaming device or game console that offers the Netflix app, or on netflix.com using your computer," Netflix explains on its help page. /GazetaExpress/
