Following reports in international media that the US will reduce its troops in various countries around the world, including Kosovo, NATO, in a written response to Gazeta Express, emphasizes that the United States continues to play a fundamental role in supporting sustainable security throughout Kosovo and regional stability, including within the framework of the NATO-led KFOR mission.
According to NATO, "KFOR's strength and posture are reviewed and adjusted periodically as circumstances evolve, so that the mission remains fit for purpose," but currently, "there are no significant changes under consideration."
"KFOR continues to fulfill its mandate to help maintain a safe and secure environment for all people in Kosovo, as well as freedom of movement," NATO reiterates.
“KFOR operates in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), in their respective roles as security responders. KFOR’s daily presence and activities throughout Kosovo create space for political dialogue. Stability in the region ultimately depends on all parties choosing diplomacy over violence. The path to lasting peace is political. NATO continues to strongly support the EU-facilitated Dialogue as a framework to resolve outstanding issues with respect for the rights of all communities,” NATO’s response to Gazeta Express further states.
Otherwise, regarding the topic for Gazeta Express, the Pentagon said that they have no changes to the military structure.
"We have no changes to our force deployment to announce today," a Pentagon spokesperson told Gazeta Express.
