Arben Mustafa, former MP of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), at the conference organized by the Kosovo Institute for Law (IKD), said that since the beginning of the 10th Legislature, the parliamentary majority has focused on preparations for new elections rather than having a serious legislative or governing agenda.
"We had the same promises that were made six years ago, and in that report they were presented as new promises without giving any account of what has been done in these six years, when at least one of them has not been fulfilled," he said.
Further, Mustafa added that Prime Minister Kurti, on the day he presented this exposé, spoke as if he were appearing for the first time and presenting his vision as prime minister.
"So, without giving any account, no answer as to why at least one of those major projects was not implemented, they were presented there as if it were a new vision and that was frivolous," he added.
Mustafa said that there was a disconnect between what Kurti said in the presentation and the budget he brought to the Assembly.
"None of the big promises that were presented in the presentation were budgeted. So, we had a total disconnect between what the Prime Minister presented in the presentation and the budget that he brought to the Assembly for a vote," he emphasized.
Regarding the debate in the Assembly, he said that the government has seen the Assembly as a machine and has not seen the role of the deputies in the Assembly, adding that many laws, such as those on healthcare and price ceilings, have been passed without parliamentary debate.
"No opportunity has been given to the deputies to exercise their role," Mustafa said.
Otherwise, the Kosovo Law Institute (KLI) organized a discussion conference on Tuesday on the topic: "The 10th Legislature of the Kosovo Assembly: Challenges, Crises and Lessons for the Future", within which the monitoring report on the work of the 10th Legislature of the Kosovo Assembly was published.
