Former Prime Minister Isa Mustafa has spoken about the latest developments in the party he led for several years after LDK emerged with a poor result in the December 28 elections.

Mustafa did not go into much detail in commenting on the decision of the current LDK leader, Lumir Abdixhiku, to offer his resignation, but he did draw a comparison with his actions when the LDK also had a poor result in 2021.

"When we dropped to around 13%, LDK read the citizen voice correctly. Therefore, my associates and I understood that changes needed to be made," said Mustafa.

He said that in such cases, words must be measured before they are spoken because there are consequences afterwards.

"Even Abdixhiku and all of us who deal with politics should think longer before speaking. On the 28th, he came out and said that he takes objective responsibility for the result. Later, he said that he would offer his resignation to the Assembly and I cannot say whether he should have resigned or not, but he should have measured his words before speaking. He should have slept for a night, rested a little, consulted with his associates," he said in an interview for Kosova Press.

"I cannot say how he should have acted with the resignation. For me, when I saw that the result was less than 13%, I did not offer my resignation, but I did and I informed the members of the Presidency that I am ending my mandate in the LDK and in all LDK bodies."

Mustafa said he could not comment on why Abdixhiku did not do the same.

"He may not have offered his resignation at all," he added, while explaining Article 27 of the LDK statute, based on which LDK delegates voted for or against Abdixhiku.

Mustafa said that Article 27.1 of the LDK statute does not address resignation, but that it speaks "about a vote of confidence where 1/3 of the members of the Assembly can request a vote of confidence for the president or the president himself for himself." /Express/
