Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Ganimete Musliu has reacted to the non-renewal of journalist Edina Avdiu's contract at Radio Television of Kosovo, describing the case as a serious blow to free journalism and the role of the public broadcaster.
Musliu emphasizes that Edina Avdiu's case is not about a lack of professionalism, but about exactly the opposite – about valued work and professional integrity.
Musliu focuses particularly on the fact that the decision to not renew the contract was made during Avdiu's pregnancy, describing this as an unacceptable standard for any institution that claims to approach European practices.
"The situation becomes even more serious when such a decision is made during her pregnancy. Any institution that claims European standards must show sensitivity, legality and transparency, not silence."
