Kosovo's World Cup qualification would be a surprise Kosovo's top scorer, Vedat Muriqi, sees Kosovo's qualification for the 2026 World Cup as very difficult.
Speaking about Kosovo's opponents, such as Switzerland, Sweden and Slovenia, Muriqi emphasizes that Kosovo will do everything to achieve the major qualification, although he admits that it will not be a difficult challenge.
In an interview for journalist Xhemajl Rexha's Interactive Talks show, Muriqi said that a possible qualification would be a surprise.
"I'm not saying it's impossible, but if we qualify it's a surprise for us, no misunderstandings. I repeat, I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's a surprise if we qualify. We know that Switzerland participates in every major tournament, Sweden has made an extremely strong national team. Slovenia is modest, but it's always there to cause trouble," said Muriqi.
He said that he knows that in the first match with Switzerland, Kosovo will not be a guest, as it has a lot of support, and they will try to at least get a draw.
Muriqi has said that his biggest dream is to qualify Kosovo for a World Cup or European Championship. Muriqi has also spoken about his adventure at the club level.
Mallorca will be the Prizren striker's home for the next 4 years, and he has expressed his happiness about it. But, before deciding to stay at the Spanish elite island club, Muriqi has revealed that he had a number of better financial offers.
"From an economic perspective, I have also had offers from Turkey, Arabia and Qatar, I have had good offers. In fact, I have thought about the future of my family. They have been offers that are difficult to refuse from an economic perspective, but when I thought that I have peace here, people are respecting me, they are loving me. I also feel good as a footballer here, my family is comfortable, so I decided not to think too much about the economic aspect, and to extend my contract with Mallorca," said Muriqi.
He has indicated that he will continue with the same contract terms, and it is not about any salary reduction, but only a reduction in the clause, from 38 to 30 million Euros./Express newspaper/
