The Kosovo Police, through an announcement on its official website, announced that during the night of February 7, police units attempted to stop a vehicle in the Obiliq area, however its driver, endangering the police officer, did not stop and then continued towards Vushtrri and then to Mitrovica.

Along this road, the driver of the vehicle in the Mitrovica area hit the police car that was following him three times.

After all that journey, the police managed to stop him in the village of Zupç, on the national road Mitrovica - Zubin Potok, arresting him along with his three passengers.

Two police officers were injured in this entire action, and proceedings are underway against those arrested for the criminal offense of "Assault on an official in the performance of official duty."

During the night of February 07, 2026, a police unit attempted to stop a vehicle in the Obiliq area, but its driver, endangering the police officer, did not stop despite the signals and continued driving towards Vushtrri and then Mitrovica.

In coordination with the units of the Obiliq Police Station, the pursuit and stopping of the suspect vehicle continued by the South Mitrovica Road Traffic Units, who continuously used stop signals. During the pursuit, the driver of the vehicle continuously endangered other traffic participants, while in the Mitrovica area, in three different locations, he hit the pursuing police vehicle three times.

Thanks to the skill and professionalism of the police officers, who acted calmly, with restraint and prudence, using a suitable location without endangering other traffic participants, on the national road Mitrovica - Zubin Potok, respectively on the road segment in the village of Zupç, they managed to stop the vehicle and arrest the driver and three passengers.

Two police officers, who suffered injuries during the pursuit, sought medical treatment.

By decision of the competent prosecutor, the driver has been placed under police detention, while investigations into the case are underway regarding the criminal offense of "Assault on an official in the performance of official duty".
