Real Madrid have some important transfer decisions to make before the transfer window opens in early July, but any move is expected to be in consultation with new coach José Mourinho.
Mourinho is expected to have different opinions from the club's current management on the transfer strategy, and this also applies to defender Raúl Asencio.
A few weeks ago it was reported that the "La Fábrica" academy product could leave if a good offer came to the Bernabéu offices, but according to "Diario AS", the Portuguese coach is open to keeping him in the squad.
The season has been difficult for Asensio.
The arrival of Dean Huijsen dropped him down the pecking order, and although he was still involved under Xabi Alonso, he was subsequently left out by current manager Álvaro Arbeloa after a falling out between them earlier in the season.
If Arbeloa had stayed, Asensio's departure would have been very likely, but the situation could change under Mourinho.
He appreciates the profile of the young defender, whom he sees as a "fighter", similar to players like Sergio Ramos and Pepe during his first spell at the club (2010–2013).
It should be noted that Real Madrid plan to bring in a new center-back this summer, and if that happens, Asensio will drop even further down the rankings.
However, he could have a place in the team under Mourinho, who could be the ideal coach to develop him further.
Antonio Rüdiger is expected to have limited minutes next season due to recurring physical problems, so keeping Asensio would make sense – as long as a big financial offer doesn't come along.
However, for now it remains to be seen what the final decision between Mourinho and Real Madrid's sporting department will be./Express newspaper/
