The Basic Court in Mitrovica, Department for Serious Crimes, announces that today it held three hearings regarding the requests of the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica for the imposition of pre-trial detention against ten defendants, in the case of vote manipulation in the December 28 elections.
The court announces that after reviewing the requests and evaluating the evidence presented, "The court has rejected the requests of the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica for the imposition of detention measures against the defendants: RJ, LH, ND, AN, BF, HS, Sh.N., YS, DK and SS, deciding that the same shall be defended at liberty."
The defendants are suspected of having, each separately, committed the criminal offense of "Falsification of voting results", under Article 216, paragraph 2, in conjunction with Article 31 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo, the court's announcement continues.
"The court has assessed that, at this stage of the criminal proceedings, the legal conditions for imposing the measure of detention, according to the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kosovo, have not been met," the announcement concludes.
