Mexican alpine skiers Sarah Schleper and her son Lasse Gaxiola made history at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, becoming the first mother and son to compete simultaneously in the same Olympic Games.
On February 12, the 46-year-old Schleper finished 26th in the women's Super Giant slalom with a time of 1 minute 31.37 seconds, becoming the longest-running female alpine skier in seven Winter Olympics. A few days later, on February 16, her son Lasse failed to finish his second race in the men's slalom.
The 2026 Winter Olympics are taking place in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo from February 6 to 22. In the current medal standings, Norway leads with 27 medals, followed by host Italy and the Netherlands.
