Mickoski: Macedonia's exports are growing, more money for citizens

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski says that the increase in exports in May this year is excellent news for the Macedonian economy and means more money for Macedonian citizens.

"Macedonia's exports are growing! Excellent news for the Macedonian economy. In May, Macedonia's exports grew by a staggering 23,44 percent in euros, amid stagnation in the European market, and especially the challenges facing the automotive industry. We also recorded an increase in Macedonia's exports in the first five months of 2025, in the period January-May, Macedonia's exports grew by 3,15 percent in euros, compared to imports for the same period, which grew by 1 percent," Mickoski said today in a Facebook post.

He emphasizes that more exports mean more money for the citizens of Macedonia. He emphasizes that after months and years of decline, there is finally growth for the Macedonian economy.

"Tourism is growing, GDP is growing, industrial production is growing, investments are growing, exports are growing..., a rich Macedonia is a strong Macedonia! This year we are building the foundations of change. Macedonia's time is coming!, emphasizes Mickoski.

As published by the State Statistical Office (SSSO), the total value of the country's exports of goods in the period January-May 2025 reached 3.347.7 million euros, an increase of 3,2 percent compared to the same period last year. The value of imported goods, on the other hand, is 4.693.5 million euros, which is 1,0 percent more compared to the previous year.

Trade exchange by products according to the Standard International Trade Classification shows that the largest share of exports is: catalysts of holders of precious metals or their compounds, ignition wire assemblies and the like, for vehicles, aircraft or ships, parts of seats from subgroup 821.1 of other catalysts of holders.

The most represented imports are: petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (except raw materials), other platinum group metals and their alloys, unwrought or in powder form, platinum and platinum alloys, unwrought or in powder form, and electricity.

In the period January-May 2025, according to the total volume of foreign trade, the largest share of trade was with Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Serbia and China, which participate with 47,0 percent of the total volume of exchange. European Union member countries are represented with 60,7 percent of the total exchange.
