One of the leaders of VLEN, Izet Mexhiti, said in an interview with Alsat-M that the party has agreed on the model with co-chairs, to better organize its structure as a political party.
"After many debates and arguments, both for and against, we agreed that the most appropriate model for VALEN is to have co-chairs, along with Bilall Kasami," said Mexhiti.
He added that they have agreed on the ideology of VLEN, which will be more center-right.
"The leadership model chosen is an innovation. The characteristic of VALEN is dialogue and not autocratic decisions. Even though it is a co-chair model, decisions within the leadership will be made by consensus; if there is a dilemma, it will be decided by absolute majority, not simple majority. All of this is in the function of democratizing the political scene," said Mexhiti.
According to him, the changes in Kosovo have also had an effect on the Albanian political campus in Macedonia, and VLEN is part of this political network. “In retrospect, there was the LEN coalition, then VLEN. Bekim Qoku is the chairman of the VLEN parliamentary group, an integral part of the narrow leadership and is expected to be in the position of deputy chairman,” said Mexhiti.
Regarding the new UNT campus, Mexhiti said that the amount could reach up to 60 million euros. The campus will include an amphitheater, swimming pools, sports halls and all the necessary elements for a modern education.
"This is a framework procurement that does not require full funds immediately, but the government guarantees support for this project. The investment could go up to 60 million euros and is the largest in Albanian education since the existence of Macedonia, whether in the communist or pluralist period," he said.
He added that the changes in the project are natural, given that the initial construction amount was planned differently. The procurement procedure is a framework and does not require full funding, but the government guarantees support and implementation of the project.
Responding to criticism from DUI-Çair regarding the possibility of delays in the project, Mexhiti said that the opposition has not understood the importance of this historic investment. “I understand that the opposition should criticize, but in such historic cases they should surpass themselves. When the largest investment in Albanian education occurs, the opposition should say that it is a good job. Their accusations do not hold up and they do not have good mathematics,” said Mexhiti.
He added that the opposition may criticize WLEN for other issues, but when it comes to such an important project for Albanian education, it should be seen as a historic benefit.
