The 18th anniversary of Kosovo's declaration of independence has brought congratulations from internationals since the day before February 17th.
On Monday morning, the first congratulations came from the President of the United States of America, who sent a letter to his counterpart from Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani.
"President Trump congratulated the people of Kosovo on this important anniversary, reaffirming the unwavering support of the United States of America for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Kosovo," the Presidency's announcement states.
Kosovo was also congratulated by the US charge d'affaires in Kosovo, who said that while Kosovo marks its 18th anniversary, the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary.
"This year, as Kosovo marks its 18th anniversary of independence and the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary, we stand together as Kosovo continues to build a secure and prosperous future," she said in a message posted on Instagram.
According to her, the US partnership with Kosovo began even before independence, in 1996, when the United States opened its first office in Pristina.
“Since then, we have stood by Kosovo, supporting its democratic journey, which lays the foundation for the future. We look forward to expanding our cooperation in trade, investment and strengthening security ties, to the benefit of both our countries. We welcome Kosovo’s commitment to international peace and continue to encourage a multiethnic and democratic future for all its citizens,” she said.
King Charles III also sent congratulations to Kosovo, where in the letter he sent he said that this day serves as a precious opportunity to reflect on the enduring friendship between our countries.
"I am deeply encouraged by the strength of our bilateral ties and remain committed to fostering even closer cooperation in the years to come. As we face the shared challenges of our time, particularly those related to climate and the conservation of our natural world, I hope that our countries will continue to work together for meaningful and sustainable solutions," King Charles III's letter reads.
The French Embassy in Kosovo briefly congratulated Kosovo on Independence Day, publishing a photo showing the flags of Kosovo and France.
A day before the Independence Day, Kosovo was also congratulated by the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, who sent a congratulatory message to the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani.
The Italian President appreciates the ongoing cooperation between Rome and Pristina, underlining the shared commitment to peace and stability in Kosovo. He emphasizes that this cooperation constitutes a solid basis for the deepening and expansion of bilateral relations in various fields.
In his message, Mattarella reaffirms Italy's unwavering support for the European path of Kosovo and the entire region. According to him, achieving this objective remains essential, and Italy will continue to contribute in this direction.
Meanwhile, tomorrow, in the context of Kosovo's Independence, a solemn meeting of the Government will be held at 7:20, while at 10:30 the Kosovo Assembly will also convene in a solemn session.
A protest will also be held on Tuesday, demanding justice for the former KLA leaders who are being tried in The Hague.
