Donald Trump's criticism of Pope Leo is "unacceptable", says Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the BBC reported, Gazeta Express reports.
"I consider President Trump's words to the Holy Father unacceptable. The Pope is the head of the Catholic Church and it is right and appropriate that he calls for peace and condemns all forms of war," the Italian leader said in a statement.
This comes after the US president called the Pope "terrible", not long after the Pope had condemned the US president's threat against Iran.
